Among all Americans, 21% approve of the way Bush is handling his job as president and 72% disapprove. When it comes to Bush's handling of the economy, 17% approve and 77% disapprove.
But it turns out Osama can't get his people behind him anymore, either. Here's Peter Bergen in the Washington Post today:
No matter what bin Laden's fate, Muslims around the world are increasingly taking a dim view of his group and its suicide operations. In the late 1990s, bin Laden was a folk hero to many Muslims. But since 2003, as al-Qaeda and its affiliates have killed Muslim civilians by the thousands from Casablanca to Kabul, support for bin Laden has nose-dived, according to Pew polls taken in key Muslim countries such as Indonesia and Pakistan.
It turns out that whether you're in America or Arabia, if you screw over the people you pretend to help, they don't like it. Huh.
It's almost like they're related.

I was definitely going to praise your photoshop skills regarding Dubya with a beard, until I saw that the photo came from another source.
I guess the moral of this story is that killing other people is often popular, but when you start taking out too many of your own folks ( like say, exposing young men and women to IUD's in the Middle East, or on the flip side, bombing a large wedding Jordan) your popularity can really suffer. Can we send them both to retirement, I would even be willing to help fund Osama's pension, I hear Tora Bora is quite nice this time of year ;-)
I think the al Qaeda pension plan calls for payment in yak turds. I'll try to help fund that.
Was "IUD" in your comment a Freudian slip? Because it amuses the hell out of me to imagine explosive birth control.
Ya know, the funny thing is that U and E aren't even close to one another on the keyboard. I don't know if the slip was Freudian or not, but it was large.
OK, how about this? Instead of issuing body armor to soldiers that are being deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, DoD has determined that the Dalkon Shield is the only protection that they will need ;-) MRE's will also include spermicidal jelly, for that extra get up and go in the morning.
Ha! That reminds me of a joke. This woman's doctor tells her that she's pregnant, and she's really upset. She says that the spermicidal jelly she's been using must have been defective because she's been putting it on her toast every morning . . .
Dubya probably thinks that the Dalkon sheild is a real defense system brought to the United States by Captain James T. Kirk, who, in turn, got it from the Dalkons.
